The Humble Ones

There they sit
looking down from their high chairs
at all beneath them.
Feeling superior
to the mere mortals cowering below,
needing to feel superior
to even dare to preach at them, as they inevitably do.

And thus, they chime
their oh so humble claims
to be representatives of a God
invisible
yet all powerful and wise
as he fills their imaginative minds.
